The number of people experiencing some sort of chronic pain every day of their lives is alarming. In fact, many Americans have resigned themselves to pain because they simply feel it’s a normal condition. According to a recent survey by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), close to one in two Americans say pain is part of life, while another 41% believe pain is a standard part of the aging process. Check out some more statistics on how pain affects so many people today:
Experts estimate that over 80% of the population experience back pain in their lives.
Every 10 seconds, someone in the U.S. goes to the emergency room complaining of head pain and approximately 1.2 million visits are for acute migraine attacks.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that over 3% of employed 18-64 year olds report having carpal tunnel syndrome in the past 12 months.
CDC reports that approximately 30% of adults experience some type of joint pain during preceding 30 days.
Routine Chiropractic Care Can Turn This Around
These numbers reveal a true crisis. Society has become reactive rather that proactive in maintaining good health. Maintaining good health means getting checked before a problem surfaces. Routine chiropractic checks should be the same as we routinely see a dentist for good dental health. See a chiropractor to keep the nervous system free from subluxations, to maintain good structure and to avoid pain and so many chronic conditions that can be avoided.
Now here is an interesting concept: Only 9% of the entire nervous system is set up for feeling pain. So, just think of possible things that can be corrected before you ever get the symptom of pain. Be proactive and visit your chiropractor for the path of optimal wellness. Your overall health will benefit!
