Inflammation is caused by the body's immune system protecting it against infections, bacteria, and viruses. Damage and stress to the body can cause inflammation, and the pain that often accompanies it, while unpleasant, is part of the body's natural healing process. Pain is our body talking to us. It's a signal, letting us know there is a problem that requires healing. Are we listening to it? If we ignore the signal, the immune system may weaken, and our body could degenerate.
The first reaction most people have to pain is to pop a pill. Yes, anti-inflammatory drugs can temporarily reduce swelling and pain, but their continued use can also trigger horrible side effects that quicken the degeneration process. To conquer inflammation in the body, the root of the problem must first be dealt with.
What are you doing—or, given the sedentary lifestyle of most Americans—what are you not doing that causes this inflammation? It's no secret that lifestyle is key to good health. What are you doing every day to reduce the inflammation naturally in your body?

First, you should move—and keep moving. A sedentary lifestyle is a major contributor to bad health. You must engage in some sort of physical activity every day, even if it is only walking, to ensure muscular and skeletal stability.
Nutrition also plays a leading role in your health. What you put into and onto your body directly affects your quality of life. If you fuel your body with the nutrients it needs, it will thank you by performing well. Avoid processed foods: they are full of additives that cause inflammation. Stick with whole foods that contain minimal ingredients—ones you can actually pronounce—and your body will heal from the inside out.
Mental and emotional self-work also contribute to your health. Set apart time by yourself to meditate and enhance your spiritual connections. Maintaining your mental health is essential to an overall sense of well-being.
Last of all, tend to your nervous system. Because it controls everything in your body, a healthy nervous system translates into a healthier version of you. Regular chiropractic adjustments can be a cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle, ensuring that your entire body functions to the best of its ability.
